Liposuction Bellevue

If you have unwanted amounts of fat that you can’t seem to get rid of through a healthy diet and regular exercise, liposuction may be the answer. By undergoing liposuction, you can achieve a slimmer, more toned physique without having to commit to surgery or extreme workouts. Here at Pacific Sound Plastic Surgery, we offer patients in Bellevue a safe, high-end liposuction experience by utilizing innovative techniques and a premium standard of patient care. If you’d like to slim, tone, and shape different parts of your body, a liposuction procedure at Pacific Sound Plastic Surgery is worth exploring.

What is Liposuction?

Liposuction is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that involves using small tubes known as cannulas to gently remove unwanted fat deposits from various parts of the body. The result? A tighter, thinner, and more sculpted figure you’re proud to show off. Liposuction results can be as subtle or dramatic as one wants, however, they must be maintained through a healthy lifestyle.

Liposuction is typically performed on the following areas of the body:

  • Hips and thighs
  • Buttocks
  • Abdomen
  • Waist
  • Back
  • Arms
  • Chest
  • Chin
  • Neck

Good Candidates for Liposuction

If you want to slim down certain areas of your body that are unreceptive to diet and exercise, liposuction is a great option. It’s important to note that this procedure is not a magic or permanent cure. It is best for those who are already physically active, eat healthy, and have a “body mass index” under 35. Body mass index is a ratio of your weight to height that will be computed at your consultation. If you plan to undergo liposuction at Pacific SoundPlastic Surgery, we encourage you to continue to live a healthy lifestyle in order to maintain and optimize the results of surgery.

Preparing For Liposuction

Before your liposuction procedure, you’ll visit our Bellevue office for a preoperative appointment. During this time, your board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Kris Day, will discuss your goals for the procedure, review before and after photos, and answer any questions you may have. He will also evaluate your medical history and current lifestyle habits.

Dr. Day will also inform you of any medications to avoid a few weeks before the procedure and fill any necessary prescriptions. If you smoke, he will ask you to stop at least six weeks prior to the surgery and four weeks following it.

What to Expect During Your Liposuction Procedure

At Pacific Sound Plastic Surgery in Bellevue, we engage in the highest standards of pre-operative and post-operative care to ensure our liposuction patients achieve the best possible outcome. This includes performing all liposuction procedures in a state-licensed, accredited surgery center with experienced anesthesiologists. We also utilize ‌power assisted liposuction and “tumescence,” or generous “wetting solution,” techniques that allow for optimal results.

Once you arrive at our Bellevue plastic surgery center, we’ll have you lie down on a comfortable bed, and your anesthesiologist will usually put you under general anesthesia, though liposuction can be performed under virtually any level of anesthesia that you are most comfortable with. Dr. Day will first make a small micro-incision into the skin. Then he will inject liquids to prepare for fat removal. He will then use oscillating metal tubes, also known as cannulas, to break apart and suck out excess fat deposits. He will then sculpt the skin around the designated treatment area. The exact length of the procedure will depend on what and how many areas are being treated. You may notice a visible improvement in the treatment area right away, however, the final results of the procedure will only be evident after multiple weeks after swelling has resolved completely.

Recovering From
Liposuction

To ensure the best results following your liposuction procedure, Dr. Day will have you wear a body contouring compression garment to help subside swelling and further sculpt your body contour. He can also set you up with one of our partnered Iymphedema massage clinics to accelerate your recovery.

When recovering from liposuction, we typically recommend that you take one week off of work to rest and take it easy. Bruising is typically resolved in that amount of time. You can engage in light activity and low-grade exercise sometimes even 1-2 days after your procedure, but you likely won’t be ready for high-impact sports and rigorous activity for up to 4-8 weeks. Additionally, please keep in mind that swelling can be apparent for up to three months, and it may take six months for your body to fully adjust to its new size and shape.
