If you’ve recently lost a lot of weight but still struggle with sagging skin or stubborn fat deposits, a lower body lift is just what you need. A body lift combines a tummy tuck with a butt lift to leave you with a beautifully sculpted figure. Here at Pacific Sound Plastic Surgery, board-certified surgeon Dr. Kris Day is pleased to perform lower body lifts on men and women in Bellevue and the surrounding area. Rest assured, he’ll help you achieve your desired results in a safe and comfortable environment.
A body lift is essentially a tummy tuck paired with a buttock lift. While the goals of the procedure vary, most people who undergo it wish to reshape their hips, abdomen, back, buttocks, and thighs so they can achieve a tighter, slimmer physique. During a lower body lift, skin is removed while the body’s own tissue is re-draped and resuspended.
Most people decide to undergo a breast lift and Pacific Sound Plastic Surgery to address the following:
You might benefit from lower body lift if:
After a lower body lift, you can expect less loose, inelastic skin in your midsection, buttocks, and upper legs. You may enjoy enhanced body contours and tighter, firmer skin in the abdomen, flanks, lower back, buttocks, and thighs. A lower body lift can also alleviate the chaffing and other irritation that typically occurs after major weight loss. Many patients also report that they are able to be more active after a body lift because their excess soft tissues no longer get in the way and athletic clothing fits better. They are often more likely to spend time outdoors and socialize because of greater self esteem.
Your body lift surgery will be customized to meet your unique goals but likely involves a tummy tuck, buttock lift, and liposuction. While the tummy tuck will help resolve sagging skin in the midsection and improve a bulging appearance, a buttock lift is designed to remove excess sagging skin from the buttock and hip area.
During your body lift, board-certified surgeon Dr. Day will make incisions on your waist, abdomen, groin, buttocks, and thighs, depending on the specifics of your procedure. Once the incisions have been made, Dr. Day will remove excess fat and skin and reposition and tighten the underlying skin tissue. He will then use sutures to shape and sculpt the new contours of your body and hold them in place. After surgery, he will bandage the incision sites and place cannula tubes under the skin to help drain excess fluid.
Since a body lift surgery in Bellevue is a fairly extensive procedure, you should be prepared for some downtime. Most patients take 1-2 weeks off of work, as they feel sore and tired and need ample rest. Dr. Day will recommend that you walk the few following days after the surgery to prevent blood clots, however, you’ll need to refrain from exercise and heavy lifting for up to six weeks.
If you notice bruising, rest assured this is completely normal and will go away in the first few weeks. In addition, while your incisions will be apparent right after the procedure, they’ll gradually fade and flatten over time. After the procedure, you can expect a significant reduction in stubborn fat and excess skin as well as greater definition in the lower part of your body. The results of your body lift will continue to improve over 1-2 years post-surgery.

Scars are inevitable after a lower body lift, but Dr. Day will ensure the incisions he makes are as discreet as possible. During your consultation, he can show you how your scars will likely look. He may also recommend some skin creams and sun protection that will help fade your scars over time.
Since the procedure is performed under general anesthesia, it’s generally painless. However, you may feel a bit of pain and discomfort during the recovery period. Dr. Day will advise you to wear a compression garment and take pain medications to cope with the pain.
In most cases, insurance will not pay for a lower body lift. But if you can prove that the surgery is a medical necessity, you may receive at least partial coverage.
A lower body lift is not a weight loss procedure. The ideal candidates for this surgery have already lost a significant amount of weight (or undergone bariatric surgery) and are at a healthy weight that can allow for an easier recovery and lower risk of complications.
There are several risks associated with undergoing a body lift. These risks include bleeding, swelling, bruising, infection, scarring, poor reaction to anesthesia, hematomas, and asymmetry.
