Fat Transfer Bellevue

If you’re looking for a safe, effective way to improve the appearance of your face or body, a fat transfer might be a good option. Put simply, a fat transfer removes fat from areas in which you have excess fat and injects it into areas that might be lacking in volume. At Pacific Sound Pacific Surgery, our leading Bellevue plastic surgeon, Dr. Kris Day, is pleased to offer fat transfer procedures for the face and body to men and women in the Seattle area.

What is a Fat Transfer?

Also known as fat grafting or fat injection, fat transfer is a surgery in which a doctor transfers fat from one area of your body to another. The goal is to improve or augment a specific area of your face or body. It’s a highly versatile procedure that can address a wide variety of aesthetic concerns. It may resolve or minimize forehead creases, frown lines, smile lines, thin lips, and facial scars. A fat transfer can also add volume and lift to the breasts and buttocks, giving you a fuller, more youthful physique.

Good Candidates for a Fat Transfer

You may be a good candidate for a fat transfer in Bellevue if any of the following apply to you.

  • You want to restore lost volume in your face.
  • You hope to rejuvenate your face and look years younger.
  • You’re looking for a long-lasting alternative to dermal fillers.
  • You wish to achieve fuller breasts and/or buttocks.
  • You wish to achieve a BBL
  • You wish to achieve an enhanced hourglass figure.
  • You have an area of the body that you want to be slimmer.
  • You’re in reasonably good health.
  • You have realistic expectations of the procedure.

Benefits of Fat Transfer

Since a fat transfer is so versatile, it can offer a variety of benefits. It may correct facial imperfections or diminish the look of skin irregularities, such as acne scars, deep floods, and wrinkles. It can also augment the cheeks or cheekbones as well as the lips. Additionally, a fat transfer may be performed to add volume and lift to the buttocks, known as a BBL. It can increase your self-confidence, expand your clothing options, and take years off your face and/or body.

What to Expect
During a Fat Transfer

Every fat transfer is unique and personalized to each patient’s particular aesthetic goals. However, all procedures involve three main steps. First, Dr. Day will remove fat from another area of your body with excess volume via a thin cannula and gentle liposuction technique. Then, he will remove damaged fat cells and prepare the right ones for re-injection.

During the final step, Dr. Day will re-inject the fat cells back into your face or a different part of your body. A typical fat transfer may take anywhere from one to five hours. It all depends on where your fat cells will be taken from and where they’re being transferred to.

Recovering From
a Fat Transfer

Right after the fat transfer, you will likely experience a bit of bruising and swelling in the treatment area. Fortunately, this should fade away on its own within a few days. You can expect to resume work and your daily activities within a few days. You’ll be encouraged to take walks to stimulate blood flow.

While you will notice results immediately after the fat transfer, they’ll continue to improve once your swelling subsides. Full results will likely be apparent after 4 to 6 weeks. Dr. Day will provide you with detailed recovery instructions and be there to answer any questions or concerns as they arise. If necessary, he will also prescribe pain medications to help reduce any pain or discomfort you may face after the procedure.
