Breast Lift Bellevue

Over time, you might notice your breasts losing their perkiness, firmness, and youthfulness. This may be the result of a variety of factors, such as pregnancy, childbirth, weight fluctuations, aging, genetics, and gravity. Fortunately, you don’t have to live with this change forever, as a breast lift surgery can elevate sagging breasts and rejuvenate their appearance. At Pacific Sound Plastic Surgery, board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Kris Day is pleased to offer breast lift surgery to women and men in the Bellevue area.

Good Candidates for Breast Lift

You may be a good candidate for a breast lift if you’re displeased with the firmness, elasticity, and position of your breasts. This may be because your breasts have lost their youthful shape, are flat or elongated, or you feel one of your breasts sits lower than the other. Stretched breast skin can also hinder the look of your breasts and warrant a lift. A consultation with Dr. Kris Day is the ideal way to learn more about the procedure and find out whether it makes sense for your unique situation.

Most people decide to undergo a breast lift and Pacific Sound Plastic Surgery to address the following:

What to Expect
During a Breast Lift

At Pacific Sound Plastic Surgery, the way Dr. Day performs your breast lift will depend on your breast size and shape, degree of sagging, size, and position of the areolas, amount of excess skin, skin laxity, and particular goals. In many cases, Dr. Kris Day will pair a breast lift with breast augmentation that involves implants or, in some cases, with a breast reduction. This is known as an augmentation-mastopexy.

If you have particularly large or heavy breasts, a breast lift combined with a breast reduction may make sense. No matter what option we choose for you, you will have at least a bit of scarring. Rest assured, we’ll reduce scar visibility by hiding the scars around the areola or under the breast and guide you through the best scar healing.

The most common type of incision for a breast lift is the anchor incision, which is around the areola and downwards from the bottom of the areola to the crease where the breast meets the chest along with a half-moon-shaped incision at the bottom of the breast. Another popular incision for smaller lifts is the lollipop incision, which uses the same pattern but without the incision at the bottom of the breast.

Prior to your breast augmentation, Dr. Day will provide a thorough overview of what to expect before, during, and after your procedure. Patient safety is our number one priority, and we want to ensure you feel relaxed and at ease for your breast augmentation surgery.

Recovering From a Breast Lift

After your breast lift surgery, Dr. Kris Day and our team will share detailed recovery instructions and inform you of how to handle any side effects you might be experiencing. We’ll ask you to take it easy for a few days and clear your schedule of any responsibilities and social events.

In addition, we’ll encourage you to move around a bit and go for walks the next day to circulate your blood and fill your lungs. Most patients experience moderate to minimal swelling for the first few weeks after surgery.

While you can likely resume your regular routine within two to three weeks, you’ll need to wait 4 to 6 weeks to return to heavy lifting and chest or over-the-head exercise. During the recovery period, we’ll ask you to return to our Bellevue office for multiple follow-up appointments to ensure you’re healing properly.

As long as you refrain from heavy lifting and vigorous physical activity, there’s a good chance you’ll be able to resume your everyday routine in a few days. If you work a desk job, you may even go back to work a week after the procedure.

We will provide you with detailed recovery instructions and see you in our office for follow-up visits to ensure you’re healing safely. You’ll enjoy the beautiful, natural results once their swelling subsides.

Auto-Augmentation Breast Lift

At Pacific Sound Plastic Surgery, board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Kris Day uses an auto-augmentation breast lift technique that lifts the breast and nipple without removing any tissue for certain patients. This technique is beneficial because it utilizes your existing breast tissue to create perkier, more lifted breasts. If you are undergoing an augmentation or reduction in addition to your lift, Dr. Day can use the same incision, which reduces the appearance of scarring. Also, since this technique redistributes your own fat and breast tissue, there is no use of implants or silicone. This is especially useful in those who have lost significant amounts of weight, such as after bariatric surgery or a successful diet and exercise regimen.

Frequently Asked Questions About a Breast Lift

Before your breast lift surgery, you’ll need to avoid anti-inflammatory medications, herbal supplements, and aspirin, as they may increase the risk of bleeding. If you smoke, we’ll ask you to quit at least a few weeks before the procedure.

Most Pacific Sound patients report minimal pain following their breast lift surgery. We can prescribe pain medication to minimize any discomfort and can also offer a special long-acting
local anesthetic (Exparel®) for a small additional fee.

We suggest you take at least five days off from work to recover. If you have a physically demanding job, it’s a good idea to give yourself more time.

A breast lift offers long-lasting results. But just like other parts of the body, breasts will continue to go through the natural process of aging. The good news is a breast lift lasts upwards of 10-15 years.

While a breast lift will improve the shape and placement of your breasts, it will not make them larger. If your goal is to increase cup size, you may combine a breast lift with breast augmentation for your desired results.

Just like any other breast surgery, breast reduction comes with some potential risks and side effects. These include infection, swelling, bruising, pain or discomfort, and poor reactions to anesthesia.
