Brow Lift

As you mature, stress, gravity, and the natural aging process cause your facial skin to sag. This can affect the eye area, creating drooping brows that give the impression that one is constantly tired or upset. It can even make you appear years older than you are. Luckily, a brow lift from Pacific Sound Plastic Surgery in Bellevue lifts your eyebrows, making you look refreshed and awake day in and day out.

What is a Brow Lift?

A brow lift is an aesthetic surgical procedure that lifts drooping or sagging eyebrows and tightens loose skin around the eyes and forehead. It involves making small incisions around the hairline area, removing and lifting any excess skin, and then carefully repositioning the eyebrows. A brow lift can correct many age-related concerns about one’s eyebrow and eye area, making you look and feel more youthful.

Good Candidates for a Brow Lift

If stress or aging has caused your eyebrows to droop, sag, or become uneven, you are a good candidate for a brow lift surgery. We also recommend this procedure for patients struggling with heavy or sagging eyelids, forehead lines, or deep-set furrows between the brows due to aging. Lastly, if you have a naturally appearing angry, tired, or frustrating look on your face due to the positioning of your eyebrows, a brow lift can help correct this. We invite you to reach out to our experienced board-certified Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Kris Day, to see if you are a good candidate for a brow lift surgery.

Preparing For a Brow Lift

Before your brow lift, we ask you to stop taking anti-inflammatory medications, aspirin, and other medications that can obstruct your healing process. If you smoke, you should quit at least six weeks before the procedure and refrain from smoking six weeks after. You’ll also need to prepare for a family member or close friend to drive you to and from our Bellevue office and stay with you for a few days afterward.

What to Expect From
a Brow Lift Surgery

Our Bellevue board-certified Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Kris Day, is highly skilled and experienced in open-brow surgery. He makes sure to tailor your brow lift procedure to your individual aesthetic concerns and personal appearance goals. As an experienced craniofacial surgeon, he can perform a combination of procedures to ensure the best possible results. Depending on your age and specific concerns, he may also recommend a blepharoplasty, facelift, or botox in addition to your brow lift.

On the day of your browlift, you’ll arrive at the Bellevue Bel-Red Center for Aesthetic Surgery and meet with Dr. Day and your anesthesiologist. Your anesthesiologist will give you medication to relax, if needed, and administer general anesthesia. Your browlift will take anywhere from 2-4 hours, depending on the specifics of your procedure.

Recovering From a Brow Lift

Our team will provide detailed recovery instructions after your brow lift procedure. We recommend keeping your head slightly elevated for a few days and applying ice packs for pain and swelling as needed. You may notice minor swelling and/or bruising around your eye area that will likely settle out after a week.

Fortunately, a brow lift is a minimally invasive procedure that requires less downtime than other surgeries. If you have a low-impact job, you can return to work after 5-7 days but should avoid strenuous activity for up to two weeks. We will ask you to visit our office in Bellevue for follow-up appointments to ensure you’re healing properly. The final results of a brow lift should be apparent after 4-8 weeks after the swelling has dissipated completely.

A brow lift removes excess and sagging tissue from on or near the scalp, which helps elevate the eyebrows on the forehead. An upper eyelid lift removes similarly excess and sagging tissue from the upper eyelid, which makes the eyelids appear more youthful but does not raise the eyebrows. Both of these procedures can make the upper third of the face appear more youthful and may be used in combination or selectively for individual patients’ needs.
